THE STORY & JOURNEY

BY VETERANS FOR THE COMMUNITY

mediamodifier_image.png

IT'S HERE

The pictures will tell all the stories you need to hear. After months of hard work, we are one week away from the opening of our very exclusive veterans lounge where our community can gather to bring back the camaraderie we so desire.

WHAT IS VETTYS LA VIE

Her at the Academy of United States Veterans, we have dedicated our mission to community unity and comraderie. Post 911 veterans represent a unique group in our American society. Vettys La Vie is a social club designed to bring together the most influential members of our community, veterans and non-veterans alike. The club is a home for veterans and community supporters to come together in the spirit of unity.

WHY WE MADE IT

The project was on agenda for years. After the 2019 pandemic we felt it was even more crucial for the community to find ways to come together. Isolation serves as a poison within the roots of a community. Our veterans are and have always been better for their sense of unity. Thus, the Vettys La Vie social club will represent our nation’s finest at their best.

WHO HAS ACCESS

All member ofAcademy of United States Veterans have access to the club without additional fees to atten club functions. Members are permitted to utilize the club accompanied by one guest. Non-members can purchase day passes for each visit.

THE EMPTY SPACE

Once upon a time, there was an empty space. Let's be honest, it looked impossible to turn this "thing" into anything in only 6 weeks. But we did it.

THE BAR

The Wingman Bar was the first step. We had promised our partners at Check-6 Foundation that we will dedicated the bar to military pilots. Thus, we kept our promise. We know...this looks a bit insane. But wait for it...

STAIN THE WOOD

Every piece of furniture was stained by hand with diligence and patience. We always kept in mind that our veterans represent excellence and when representing them, we must demonstrate the same.

PUTTING PIECES TOGETHER

Once we knew what we wanted the final space to be, we started with the basics. Assal said we should make everything in-house. Clearly, we thought "she is insane." Now, we can humbly claim every piece and corner of this extraordinary space we made for the community.

NATIVE SYMBOL

So...we experimented with colors and designs to showcase the most sacred parts of our land. As you pass by every wall, you will see a piece of history and American culture.

NO CONTRACTORS

Every nail was hammered by AUSV staff. No contractors were hired. So what that we almost hammered our own fingers off at times. It was worth it.

WHO CAN PAINT

Katie said she can paint...and paint she did. Red, gold and black were the chosen ones. She strategized based on modern day interior design trends and made that plain and boring space to look like a million dollars. When you walk into the lounge, you should know that Katie's fingerprints are everywhere.

EXPERIMENT

OK...we experimented a lot.

FLOOR-REDA

We even painted the floors red. Well, not all the floors. We used a touch of modern design to bring a sense of celebration and class to our veterans lounge.
