Q & A with Casey Affleck
On July 27, 2019, the Academy of United States Veterans and Ranger Up were proud to host the premiere and screening of Casey Affleck’s directorial debut film, Light of My Life, at the Disabled American Veterans Headquarters in Washington DC. It was a beautiful night for veterans and active duty service members as they enjoyed the film and getting to interact with Casey with questions and taking pictures with him.
At the core of Light of My Life is a story of a dystopian future where a father and his child journey through the outskirts of a broken society after a disease wiped out half of humanity ten years prior, trying to survive. It is an inspirational and poignant film about overcoming hardship which everyone enjoyed. Although this is not a war or military movie, it shares elements of survival that many of our service members and veterans can relate to.
Casey’s compassion and desire to help our veterans and active duty members was definitely on full display during his Q/A session and the VIP experience for members of the military. You could feel the positive energy bursting through the walls. Casey previously joined AUSV as the 2019 Mental Health Award presenter and continues to express care towards our veterans through events like this one.
Overall, it was a great pleasure to have received the opportunity to share Light of My Life with our Washington DC armed forces and their families.
Special thank you to Ranger Up for sharing this with moment with us!
