Casey Affleck's Exclusive Advanced Screening for the Armed Forces

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Casey Affleck's Exclusive Advanced Screening for the Armed Forces ARLINGTON, VA, Aug. 8, 2019 -- Ranger Up,  North Carolina-based apparel company owned and operated by United States Army Veterans Nick Palmisciano and Tim Kennedy, and Academy of United States Veterans(AUSV), a non-partisan Washington, D.C.-based non-profit veterans advocacy organization today released a tribute video centered around Casey Affleck’s Light of My Life exclusive Premieres. The new video gives viewers an intimate look into the perspectives of Ranger Up’s CEO, Nick Palmisciano and AUSV’s CEO, Assal Ravandi by highlighting how Affleck’s dedication towards the veterans community impacted veterans and active duty forever. "I was actually really surprised when I found out Casey wanted to show his directorial debut to a veteran audience first," said Nick Palmisciano, CEO and Founder, Ranger Up. "I thought it was really generous.  With this stature, 99/100 times this would have been shown in LA or DC in front of a who’s who of celebrities.  Instead, active military, veterans, and military were given the red-carpet treatment." From highlighting the challenging emotions of combat survival to providing the audience with anxiety over the many dangerous situations that Affleck’s single dad in a dangerous world had to traverse, the film succeeded on a number of powerful levels.  Light of My Life resonated with the all-military audience far more than the stars expected, tackling the ethics of life and death situations in an extremely poignant way that hit very close to home.  It also introduced a new type of artistic philanthropy as the film was shown for the first time ever in both the historic Tampa Theatre and Disabled American Veterans Headquarters, exclusively to the Armed Forces and their families at no cost to them. The video is available to view on the Ranger Up YouTube channel here:

Assal Ravandi, AUSV’s CEO couldn’t have been happier with the event.  “My continued mission is to connect Hollywood with the military community in unique and powerful ways.  The movie was excellent, the crowd loved it, and Casey gave so much of his time after the show that it almost felt like he was part of our community himself.  I don’t think there was a person who left without a picture, which took hours. I look forward to working with him again.” This isn’t the first time Ranger Up and AUSV have teamed up.  The two worked together in the past to show the critically acclaimed documentary “Not a War Story” to military audiences, helping it reach the number one spot on iTunes and Amazon for all documentaries.  They now look forward to AUSV’s Vettys award show, which highlights incredible veteran contribution throughout the year and will include partnerships and integration with the entertainment community, with a who’s who of stars donating their time to the event.  This year’s program marks the 5thAnnual Veteran Awards and will be hosted by former Green Beret and NFL prospect Nate Boyer.   For more information on the Light of My Life Tampa and Washington, D.C.
